My First Ever Experience in a Roman Catholic Church Reflection of my Experience What is a Catholic Church like? Is Catholicism similar to Christianity? Who do Catholics worship? These were some of the questions that ran through my mind, as I walked through the doors of the Cathedral. In all actuality, I have never experience a Catholic mass before. I did not know what to expect or who I was going to meet. But, I knew the only way I could truly experience what Catholicism is all about, is if I go in, with an open mind set. The church that I visited was the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception located in Camden ,New Jersey. My trip was on Wednesday, July 19, 2017 at 12:05 pm. I chose this place not only because it is close to where I†¦show more content†¦Since, there was no one at the front. I walked in and took a seat, towards the back of the Cathedral. There were about 20 other people sitting down in the room. It was so quite you could hear a pin drop. I actually preferred it this way because I was able to gather my thoughts and feelings. It was quiet but, relaxing, compared to other churches I have been to in the past. The first thing I’ve noticed was how big and beautiful the inside of the Cathedral was. There were huge vaulted ceilings and different stain glass windows reenacting past events. One of the windows had angels, the mother of Mary and Jesus. Another, showed Jesus being crucified. I also notice that there were 6 candles at the altar. I figured that had to mean something . Accoring to The Service As I waited for the service to start. I noticed two people kneeling before entering the pew and before sitting down. According to the Catholic Liturgy kneeling for few minutes before you sit down, â€Å"is valuable time for private prayer in the Lord s house†. They suggest that if you didn’t do your daily morning prayer, this will be the perfect time to do it. Unfortunately, I did not part take in this action because I did not know. I do think this is actually a very good thing to do. My church does not do this but, I find that it is a good way of respecting the lord’s house before a service.
